Painting Backstory:

I painted this in 2020, during the early stage of taking my art more seriously and starting to share it professionally. It ended up becoming one of my best selling art prints. Sunflowers have always been one of my favorite flowers. Even though my relationship with my dad hasn’t always been easy, sunflowers remind me of really sweet memories from my childhood. He used to sing “You Are My Sunshine” to me and once gave me a sunflower that played the song.

As an adult, I still feel drawn to them. To me, sunflowers represent positivity, strength, and choosing to keep turning toward the light. That meaning is a big part of why this piece has stayed so close to my heart.
